Mysteries solved!
Several people emailed about photo 309, which was taken in Cincinnati’s Fountain Square in 1963. According to Duke Energy employee Tim Wiley, the photographer likely took the picture with his back to Vine Street looking down 5th Street, showing the RKO Albee theater to the right. Wiley said he was 4 years old when the photo was taken but remembers seeing a few movies in the ornate theater before it closed in 1977 to become a hotel. The building was later demolished, but the facade was saved and repurposed as entrance of the Duke Energy Convention Center about three blocks from its original location.
