Over the next couple of months, some families may find themselves strapped for cash when it comes to paying their utility bills. Heat, water and electricity are vital for a quality life anytime of the year, but during winter, they are especially essential. One way to reduce those costs is to make a home more energy efficient with insulation and weatherstripping. Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas also offer programs throughout their service areas to help people with their winter energy bill.

Indiana Helping Hand

Helping Hand provides up to $300 in electric bill assistance to eligible Duke Energy customers. More information.

Duke Energy Carolinas' Share the Warmth and Duke Energy Progress' Energy Neighbor Fund

Duke Energy will match up to $500,000 in customer contributions.

Ohio HeatShare

HeatShare is administered by The Salvation Army. Eligible customers may apply for a one-time annual assistance up to $400. The HeatShare hotline, 513.762.5636, will be staffed beginning January 21, 2020. HeatShare funds may be used for heating or cooling bills through July 31 if funds are available. More information.

Kentucky WinterCare

Eligible customers may receive a one-time payment up to $300 throughout the year as long as funds are available. More information.

Florida Energy Neighbor Fund

Duke Energy will match up to $500,000 in customer contributions. More information

Piedmont Natural Gas Share the Warmth

Piedmont Natural Gas customers can help support their neighbors by rounding up their bill to the nearest dollar. Piedmont also contributes $100,000 annually to partner agencies. More information.
