In just one day, Duke Energy restored power to almost 600,000 customers in Florida – about half of the company’s customers who were without power after Hurricane Irma swiped the state. By Wednesday afternoon, the company had restored 800,000 customers in Florida and 313,000 in North Carolina and South Carolina.

What’s it take? Thousands of lineworkers and support personnel and thousands of pieces of equipment.

Remember to stay safe and stay away from downed power lines and electrical wires. Do not drive over or stand near downed power lines. Consider all lines energized as well as trees, limbs, cars, ladders or anything in contact with these lines. Report all power line hazards to Duke Energy or your local emergency services department or agency.
