Native American employees talk diversity

Duke Energy employees honor their heritge

During National Native American Heritage Month, Duke Energy highlighted the contributions of the company’s native American employees. In this video, several Native American employees talk about their culture, heritage and traditions.

There are more than 5 million Native Americans representing 574 federally recognized tribes. In Duke Energy’s service areas, there are about 15 federal and state recognized tribes with a population of more than 600,000 people. The Waccamaw Siouan, for example, is one of eight recognized North Carolina tribes. The Lumbee tribe is the largest in the state with about 55,000 members. The Catawba Indian Nation is South Carolina's only federally recognized tribe and has about 3,000 members.
