What do you get when you combine adults, children, parachutes, giant rings, air-powered rockets and soap bubbles?

Duke Energy Science Night, of course.

About 150 elementary schools across North Carolina are participating in Science Night as part of the North Carolina Science Festival.

Duke Energy Science Nights feature 12 hands-on activities, each designed to build students' interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers. Schools receive free kits filled with the supplies. Festival events include science talks, lab tours, nature experiences, exhibits, performances and other eventsThe festival (April 8-24), presented by Biogen Foundation, is produced by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The goal of the Duke Energy Science Night program is to generate enthusiasm among students and families for science and technology by giving them a chance to explore science together.
